Responding To Roosevelt

(from a dialogue on Listening-I. email list)

"When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on."

Franklin D. Roosevelt.

It takes great determination and tenacity to "hang on," but only clarity can reveal when there is no choice but to let go and allow thought to fail as it must. To "hang on" is to perpetuate thought in the abject absence of anything for thought to do.
