On Acknowledgement

How can I rightly urge you to acknowledge (s)he who pointed the way when in that very pointing it is clear that only the pointed is the true pointer?

How can the pointer expect acknowledgement when in the very act of pointing all expectation is exceeded beyond measure? Ego, donning the self-righteous robe of expectation, arises, flowers, and dies in the Biblical blinking of an eye.

The guru and the chela surely see all this in the very moment of all pointing, and that moment is its own acknowledgement and the end of all distinction between guru and chela, that moment that is the inrush of love.

All else passes, all else is transient -- as Patrick Sky sang softly before he put down his pen to revel evermore in the exquisite energy of Irish dance tunes, "Only Love Will Endure."
