An elephant-keeper sincerely interested in friendship doesn't expect those with more modest abodes to accommodate his weighty charge, or to show any particular interest in elephant keeping. An elephant-keeper intent on recruiting for his vocation is another matter entirely, for him friendship is incidental and what matters is agreement and mutual enthusiasm regarding the importance of elephants.
